In open water, you can’t always tell what direction you’re going or how far you’ve gone. So the GPS helps you navigate in big water. You can also pre-set waypoints to fish later. The GPS is also great for helping you see a “pattern” when fishing… as it did when I fished the King of the Island tournament in Pensacola Florida. I was getting the most action in the 32-40 feet of water range. Had I not had the GPS feature of the lowrance, I would not have picked up on this trend. The pattern on the GPS trail says it all.
